Wireless Home Automation

<<>>

Today, wireless home automation systems are available in the retail market. Living in a home where everything electronic is controlled by one control panel or (better yet) a remote control is not only possible, it's affordable - well, relatively.

Thanks to the internet and the advancements in computer technology, a wireless home automation system lets you control every electronic appliance in your house from one location. For people with hectic lifestyles, this makes things a little easier.

For example, let's say you're watching a movie in your family room and remember that you forgot to turn the lights off in the kitchen. With the control panel in your pocket, you can touch an icon on the screen and turn the lights off without having to interupt your movie.

There are three parts to a wireless home automation system: the connection center (which requires professional wiring), the microproscessor (which is housed by the connection center), and the remote control panel. The whole system is controlled by the microprocessor, which communicates with the electronic components throughout the house. Think of it as a translator from a human language to an electronic digital language.

Some systems can also be triggered by voice recognition systems. This feature will record commands in your voice. Once you then give a command, the computer will analyze your voice pattern and when it matches the recording, it will instantly turn the appropriate electronic component on or off.

Most home automation systems today are connected to the internet. With this capability, you can access your home anywhere you are as long as there is an internet connection. Imagine sitting in traffic, and using your laptop to access your home system, turn the air conditioning on, and have your favorite music playing when you arrive.

So, you can control your home's electronic components from anywhere, at anytime. Pretty soon, you might be able to have little robotic beings cooking gourmet meals for you. Hey, 100 years ago people thought of television as science fiction.

This sort of thing can turn us all into couch potatoes. But it sounds like fun. If you're thinking about life in the future, you can enjoy it today with wireless home automation technology.
