Wireless Burglar Alarms

Wireless burglar alarms are among the two types of security systems. These are hard-wired and wireless. A hard-wired system is typically the kind of security system which is installed in retail stores, office buildings and houses.

This system gives good reliability and durability over the long-term. But it requires the expertise of a professional to install it properly.

This may boost your overall costs, but many alarm companies offer discounts (or even free installation) because they are anxious to sign you up for the monthly fee. That being said just what alternate options are there? Can you install a burglar system yourself?

Wireless burglar alarms provide an excellent opportunity for the actual do it yourselfer to install their own security system and save money. Installation is much easier for a wireless alarm than it is for a hard-wired system.

Six good reasons for choosing wireless burglar alarms.

1.Aesthetics – There is no need to drill through walls and no unsightly wiring. The only time that a wired system should be considered is when the property is being built and the wired system can be installed during construction. Similar to electrical wiring for lighting and heating, wires are tucked away between the walls and floors.

2.Easily Installed – There is no experience required. This is an easy DIY project. The beauty of wireless burglar alarms is that it can be installed by almost anybody. The detectors can easily be positioned in any room, or the garage.

These detectors “talk” to the control panel using a radio frequency. For added reliability it is recommended that the wireless alarm you choose operates on the government allocated 868 MHz frequency.

3.Less Expensive - When comparing a wireless alarm system with a monitored alarm system one of the areas to consider is cost. A good quality wireless alarm costs about $250 to $300 and has no other costs associated with it.

The beauty of these types of wireless alarms is that they have a built in voice dialer. In the event of an activation at your home it will automatically dial a set of telephone numbers that you have pre-programmed into it.

It will keep dialing the numbers until it gets an answer and when it does it plays a pre-recorded message to advise the person answering of the situation. NO MONTHLY FEE!

4.Reliability - In the past, a lack of reliability was the stick used to beat the wireless burglar alarms over the head (usually by companies selling hard wired systems). Unfortunately, there are still some wireless systems that shouldn’t be touched.

To ensure that you purchase a reliable system it is strongly recommended that the wireless system you choose meets govenment standards and operates on the 868 MHz frequency. Several brands are available.

5.Take it with you – Take your wireless alarm with you when you move. Another major benefit of a wireless alarm system is that it is mobile. Because it isn’t hard wired you can move the various detectors around the house. When you move out of your house, you can take the whole system with you. No alarm company contracts to break and no negotiating with the new owners.

Just remove the various components from the walls and doors, pack them away and set them up in your new house – simple. This is particularly useful for students, or those living in rented apartments.

6.Adding Additional detectors - Because each magnetic contact or other device in a wireless alarm system “talks” directly to the main control panel, it is easy to install extra detectors. For instance, once you’ve set up your wireless alarms you may decide that you want to protect your backyard shed.

Well, with wireless burglar alarms you can easily obtain another magnetic contact and program it into your existing system. No wires or cabling required. Certain companies even allow you to add cameras.

And so, with its reliability and ease of installation a wireless burglar alarm system has the ability to provide the security and peace of mind you need for yourself and your family.

But although you now know to purchase a reputable system from a reliable source it's still important to discover which system is best for your situation. It is recommended that you compare several wireless alarm systems from different companies.
