Bathroom Vanity Cabinets

Many bathrooms contain vanity cabinets, which are a good storage solution, allowing you to keep your bathroom neater and less cluttered.

Bathroom cabinets are a great way to update and organize the space in your bathroom. Vanity cabinets are a simple way to keep everything organized and close at hand, but choosing the right cabinet or bathroom storage furniture isn't always easy.

If you are remodeling your bathroom, you may be restricted in your choice of cabinets due to space limitations. Before you purchase a vanity, take precise measurements. If installing a pre-built vanity, it is important to measure the maximum allowed space and find a vanity that is a few inches smaller.

Most vanity measurements include the counter top, which can in most cases be the largest point on the overall cabinet. If the top is made from a solid stone, such as granite or marble, it is very difficult and sometimes impossible to modify the top, even if it is too large for your space.

Make sure you get several FREE estimates for your project, from reliable contractors in your area, WITH NO OBLIGATION TO HIRE. The contractor must be licensed and insured. Home-owners need to protect themselves against accidents that may occur on the job.

Vanity cabinets should be designed by taking space, necessity and aesthetics into consideration. The first part of any furniture designing project is brainstorming on ideas.

You need to browse through magazines or internet sites to look at plans and designs of bathroom cabinets. Photocopy or print out certain designs that you like and keep them in a folder.

Look through the photos again, and combine the best of all features that you like from the chosen designs and include them in your own design. It is a good idea to list all the things that you have in mind for your vanity area.

This may include mirrors, sink and faucet, number of drawers, what kind of knobs do you want, locks and other specifics. Also make a list of your storage needs; this includes cosmetics, dental care, grooming, small appliances (hairdryers, etc), & cleaning products.

That way you can have a checklist in front of you while designing your own vanity. The choice of wood is an important decision.

Being a bathroom cabinet, you must use wood that is resistant to moisture. Oak is a popular choice. But other hardwoods (like cherry, mahogany, teak, and even hard maple) will work.

There are many different types of vanities, and several styles are readily available. They can be found in widths of 18 inches up to 60 inches, in increments of 3 inches.

One of the great things about vanity cabinets is the level of customization the homeowner can achieve. A lot of people focus on the countertop as a way to make everything come together for the bathroom.

When it comes time to design a new bathroom or remodel your existing one, it is wise to go slowly and find exactly what you want. Vanity cabinets are a focal point in the bathroom, so a lot of thought should be given to getting it right.

The simplest way to update a bathroom on a budget is by replacing the vanity. There are many unique vanities to choose from, including contemporary styles with flat panel doors and drawers and stylish chrome faucets, to traditional furniture style pieces that can add character to any remodel project.
