Pergo Flooring
In 1977, Pergo came up with the idea for laminate flooring and created "Pergo Flooring". Since then, the company has grown by leaps and bounds, offering their flooring to customers all over Europe and the United States. Today, Pergo is one of the largest and most highly respected manufacturers of quality laminate flooring products. Pergo flooring has become a popular home upgrade since it is easy to put in and doesn't take as long as installing hardwood floors or real tile or stone. You get all the same characteristics of real wood and stones for much cheaper. Laminate floors are easy to care for since they are moisture and scratch resistant. Homeowners can choose from dozens of colors, textures, and wood and natural stone looks. Laminate flooring originated in Europe but consumers in North America have really taken to these great looking floors in recent years. The square tiles come in different sizes and the plank widths on the laminate wood floors vary to give you a unique design. Manufacturers of laminate flooring have made it so the top layer is very durable and almost completely resistant to spills, burns, and stains. The resins put in the "wear layer" of laminate floors can be "as hard as diamonds" says one flooring site.

Pergo flooring gets installed by "floating" the planks over substrates like concrete slabs, plywood, and certain types of floor coverings that already exist.
The tongue and groove design lets you lock the tiles or planks together making for a solid floor surface. Laminate floors, for the most part, are glueless and just snap securely together for a tight fit.
Do-it-yourselfers appreciate the glueless installation technique of laminate flooring, making it quick and easy to accomplish. There are certain types of laminate flooring that come from the factory already pre-glued. Just put a slightly wet sponge on them to get the adhesive surface sticky again.
Since laminate floors are susceptible to water damage, many experts recommend not installing them in bathrooms or kitchen
areas unless you fill the grooves in the floors with a special waterproof glue.
Laminate floors have padding underneath to help keep them quiet and comfortable to walk on. The spacers that come in the laminate flooring kit will help guide you through the process of how to fit the pieces together in a professional style.
In addition to Pergo flooring, the most popular laminate flooring brands are from Wilsonart, Dupont, Mohawk, Shaw, Armstrong, Witex, Alloc, Mannington, and Quick-Step.
Some people are surprised to learn that the pattern they see on a laminate floor is not real wood, stone or ceramic. It is actually an image!
Photos are taken of attractive and characteristic sections of the material to be represented and are then applied to floor planks and tiles. So dominant was the originating company in early years that laminate flooring has become equally well known as 'Pergo flooring' despite the fact that numerous other manufacturers now produce it.
Once your laminate floors have been installed, they should last for years with minimal care. Laminate floor tiles and planks are coated with a heavy duty, hard-wearing aluminum oxide finish that protects the underlying pattern from being damaged.
More importantly, this means that the floor is able to stand up to high foot traffic levels without wearing through, thus providing its owner with many years of use without the need to worry about costly maintenance. In this regard, laminate can be reliably considered as being 'maintenance free' flooring.
Make sure you NEVER polish or wax these floors, just vacuum often with a brushless vacuum. The one big advantage for laminate flooring over hardwood flooring is that laminates are more dent resistant.
Some laminate flooring is as cheap as $.59 square foot but many of the varieties we found are closer to $1.20-$1.75 (like the Pergo Red Oak Laminate Flooring). Pergo flooring is probably the most popular brand available and we found several homeowners that bought them at Ikea stores.
Naturally, using a depiction in place of the real thing is a boon to manufacturers in making production both quick and easy, which in turn helps to bring the finished laminate flooring product to the market at very affordable prices.
That's not all, as it isn't real oak, teak, maple, stone, granite and the like, it means that less hardwood trees are being felled, and no hillsides quarried, to supply flooring manufacturers with raw materials. Many people don't give it a passing thought, but those that do buy laminate flooring instead
of solid hardwood or stone floors are all helping in some way to save the environment from destruction.
Most manufacturers back up their laminate products with a lengthy warranty which will sometimes extend to lifetime, however, floor buyers are advised to carefully check the terms of any warranties offered in order to ascertain exactly what is covered and what isn't.
Typically, and at the very least, one should expect laminate flooring to be supplied with a warranty period of no less than 15 years that covers premature wear, staining and fading.
Pergo Flooring offers a lifetime warranty which protects your floor from staining, wear and tear. Four sided beveling ensures this high quality laminate will fit together perfectly and look just like authentic hardwood.
There are several styles and colors to choose from. If you want the look of wood with the ease of laminate, take a look at Pergo's Select Click laminate floor range.
