Flooring Ideas
The flooring ideas I believe you'll be most interested in have to do with the relationship between various flooring options, which room the flooring will be in, and how the flooring effects the rest of the decor.
Frank Lloyd Wright loved bringing the outdoors into the home by using natural stone and wood as often as he felt it practical. This resulted in a decorative scheme that was centered around muted earth tones.

If that's not your thing, but you love wood floors, don't worry. It's a question of degree. You can do things with throw rugs, wallpaper, paint, lighting and accessories, which enable you to have any decorative scheme you like, and still have wood floors.
There's no hard and fast rules about which rooms get which flooring. It's your house. It's all about doing what YOU WANT, not what you're told is right.
But there are some practical reasons why you find certain materials as the dominant flooring in a particular room. Ceramic tile in a bathroom for instance. Here's a list of flooring material and where you normally find them.
Stone floors (including ceramics) are typically found in foyers, kitchens, bathrooms, and some basements.
Tile Floors can be used outside, but they can also be a nice way to bring nature indoors.
Linoleum Flooring is an inexpensive alternative to stone, used in the same areas.
Broadloom is normally installed in bedrooms, family rooms, and living rooms.
Cork flooring is very good in bedrooms, but not appropriate for kitchens or baths. On this page, you can see a few cork flooring reviews.
Hardwood flooring, engineered wood, wood laminate flooring, and reclaimed wood are usable virtually anywhere in the house.
Bamboo Hardwood Flooring provides a "Green" alternative to other hardwoods.
Used in combination with throw rugs and area rugs, wood floors have indeed been used in every room - including bathrooms. Wood laminate flooring holds up very well in places that get wet from time to time.
Like every other thing you buy for your house, do a lot of shopping around first. Ask questions. Get a sample to bring home and hold up against walls and furniture. Make sure you love your flooring idea before you buy it.
