Countertop Ovens
Countertop ovens are among the essential things in any home. In choosing the right oven, you need to look for one that has all the appropriate features.
There are many kinds of countertop ovens on the market. You just have to make sure to buy one that truly addresses your needs. Among the table top ovens you can buy, there are conduction, convection, microwave, toaster ovens, and Infrared.
It is important that you know which type of ovens you prefer. You also need the knowledge pertinent to the specifications and functions of each different type.
Among the most common types of countertop ovens is the toaster oven. Nearly all households use this for quick cooking or baking. This is probably the most dependable kitchen tool for those who are always on the go, but who could not afford an Infrared oven.
The other best-selling counter ovens are the convection ovens. These use hot circulating air which is moved by an interior fan. This interior fan will push the hot air around the inside of the oven to do the cooking.
With this type of oven, food will cook at a lower temperature than the conduction oven, thereby saving energy. Also, food will cook in less time than when using standard type of ovens.
Another type of oven that you might consider is the Halogen oven. This kind of oven works by circulating hot air past the food.
This system is made to ensure that the hot air gets into the food. As such, it is essential to use a wire rack to make sure that even the underside of the food is cook without having to turn it over.
Another type of oven is the Nuwave Oven. Many homeowners are eager to have this latest technology. Aside from the fact that it is space saving, this latest variation of an electric oven also promises to provide you healthy meals.
Nuwave oven is known for cooking food quickly but thoroughly. This is because of the combined powers of conduction, convection and infrared. It’s patented 3 way cooking makes meats crisply browned yet moist and succulent.
Consumer Reports has tested eight toaster ovens. Interestingly, one thing they generally don't excel at is toast.
Toast ends up with "tiger stripes" on one side, and toaster ovens take twice as long as toasters to get the job done. But companies like Cuisinart, Black and Decker, and Toastmaster want you to think beyond bread when cooking on your countertop. Toaster ovens now promise to bake and deliver a 12 inch pizza.
But with some, the results were not pretty. As for the promise of quicker cooking, testers found the $135 Black and Decker Infrawave does do toast faster. But when it came to cooking muffins, its promise turned out to be half-baked.
"Although the muffins came out brown on top, they were still underdone inside, a little bit raw," said Tara Casaregola of Consumer Reports.
A better choice is the top-rated, $180 Cuisinart Toaster Oven (Model number TOB175BC). It not only excels at baking, it also makes very good toast. And after all, shouldn't that be the final word?
These are just a few of the many different types of ovens you can have on your countertop. If you're not familiar with all of them, do some research so that you can decide which will work best for you.
