CCTV Security Cameras

In the past, these cctv security cameras were like miniature versions of the cameras used to record television programs. Of course the quality was not as good as a full size television camera, and each camera transmitted its analog video signal through a cable that ran from each camera to the monitor and video recorder unit.

Hence, instead of the video signal being broadcasted by air waves for general public viewing, the signal was sent through a “closed circuit.” This is how the term Closed Circuit Television or CCTV got its origin.

Each camera could be connected to a monitor, but the monitor would need to be within the vicinity (within cabling distance) of the camera. Unless special and expensive equipment was utilized a CCTV camera remotely monitored was not commonplace.

Every homeowner should consider installing CCTV security cameras. While the number of burglaries has dropped steadily since the 1980s, not everyone is free from harm. As a result, people who own valuables need to consider a home video surveillance system to keep themselves, their property and their family safe.

Nine out of ten convicted burglars said they would avoid a house with an alarm system or home video surveillance system. A home cctv security system makes your home three times less likely to be burglarized.

These simple stats show just how much cctv security cameras can change your home from one that is burglarized to one that is not. Our homes are our castles, and they are where we should feel safe and comfortable.

Sadly, home break-ins do happen, and when they happen they can seriously affect our ability to feel comfortable in our home. However, many homeowners are stopping the home break-ins before they happen and also capturing criminals on video using video surveillance systems.

There are many ways to keep burglars away. One of the most reliable is to own a big dog. But if technology is your preference, this three-part sytstem is best: use of a surveillance DVR, CCTV security cameras, and remote Internet access and monitoring.

The digital video recorder (DVR) works just like the security tapes of decades past, but it allows you to record much more and with much better clarity, color and picture quality. That means that not only can you record days at a time, which is great when you are away, but if someone breaks in, your DVR will catch their face with clarity.

That in itself is a huge benefit of these security systems. Security systems from 10 or 20 years ago featured choppy video, poor picture and even worse sound. Back then, it was difficult to get a clear image off of the tape.

Today’s newer systems are usually designed with digital video cameras that are IP ready. IP is an acronym for “Internet Protocol.”

IP cameras have built-in circuitry that allows the camera to be connected directly to the internet. Once the camera is connected to the internet, the camera can be monitored remotely anywhere in the world where internet access is available.

The cameras you set up can help you keep an eye on your house while on vacation, or while your children are home alone. You will have the ability to view them remotely from any computer with an internet connection, no matter where you are in the world. You could be sitting at dinner with your iPhone, watching your children.

Security cameras are now available for both indoor and outdoor use, many coming with features like waterproof durability and infrared imaging that will allow you to see what is going on in the dark. A thief or burglar can hide their appearance in the dark, but they can’t hide their heat, and that will allow you to find them.

Make sure you get several FREE estimates for your security system, WITH NO OBLIGATION TO HIRE. The installation company must be licensed and insured. Home-owners need to protect themselves against accidents that may occur on the job.
