Warming Carpet Pads

One of the best ways to warm up your floor is to use carpet pads. There are several under carpet warming pads that are a great way to add warmth to the floor you walk on everyday.

They are a very practical feature to install in your home. With warming under carpet pads you can walk bare foot in your house and let the warmth of an electric floor heat up your feet.

These pads raise the temperature of your carpet by 6 to 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Their typically electricity consumption is about 10 watts per square feet. Coupled with a good quality carpet and an insulating pad, these electric heating elements can heat up your room efficiently and economically.

Advantages of Warming Carpet Pads

1) These pads (like other types of radiant heat) don't make any noise.

2) They are a healthier alternative to forced hot air systems, reducing the chances of pollen, mildew, and dust mites by as much as 80%.

3) Carpet warming pads distribute heat more evenly compared to wall mounted or central heating systems.

4) The heating elements are as thin as 1/16th of an inch. They can be installed directly between a carpet and the pad without significantly affecting the height of the floor.

5) Warming pads are powered by electricity and have no moving parts or filters. This means that they require minimal maintenance.

Electricity Consumption

The heat from these pads radiates upwards into your room from the heating pad. The lower three feet of the room are the warmest.

Radiant heating your room this way may reduce your electricity bill. Often, with conventional forced-air heating systems the heated air enters the room from a register on a wall. The hot air moves quickly to the ceiling.

Under carpet warming pads allow you to selectively heat the rooms that are being used. A conventional heating system, by contrast, heats the air of the entire house irrespective of the usage pattern. Under carpet warming systems are therefore very economical.

These pads work well with almost all styles and fibers used in carpet. There are some carpet fibers that may get damaged by heat, so you may want to consult your flooring retailer. Carpet warming pads need to be installed at the same time the carpet and the pad are installed.

The warming elements can turn your carpet into a therapeutic surface. The pleasure of walking bare-foot on a warm, soft carpet is priceless.
