THE BEST WOMENS SHAVERS

HOW TO CHOOSE = The best womens shavers aren’t necessarily made for women. Many women prefer a mens shaver due to performance issues and the “feel” of the grip. The biggest difference seems to be the marketing.

A few new models offer pretty colors, some offer more blades. These features don’t seem to have any bearing on how close a shave you get. Manual razors are best overall. Most women say they prefer the shave they get when compared to electric shavers.

Epilators are favored by some ladies because the results last so long, but others find them painful. These take some getting used to.

THE REVIEW = The Best Razor for Women is the Gillette Venus Divine. Razors still rule as the most popular choice when it comes to women’s hair removal.

This 3-bladed model performs best in tests, winning praise for the large pivoting head and lubricating strips. More expensive versions of this razor have vibrating heads and built-in shaving gel, but they don’t give a better shave. This is virtually identical to the Gillette Mach3 Turbo men’s razor.

Other top performers include:

Best Women’s Electric Shaver = Panasonic ES 2206AC @ $25.

Best Epilator = Braun Silk-epil Xelle 5270 @ around $75.

Best price found in Nov., ’09 and again in May, '10 = once again Amazon.com dominates the pricing.

There was one Epilator sold on E Bay for $46.65, but I think that’s unusual.
