BEST DISHWASHERS

HOW TO CHOOSE = The best dishwashers often have a long list of features. Some, like stainless-steel interior, or door inserts, are cosmetic. Others, like many wash settings, are rarely used after the first few weeks. Experts recommend that you look for the following features when shopping for a dishwasher.
The more water sprays there are, the cleaner the dishes get. The best dishwashers listed below all have at least three wash levels. When buying a new home from a builder, make sure the appliances are not the “builder’s grade” low-end models. These dishwashers only have sprays at the bottom.
Sensor washing is a feature that saves water and reduces the duration of a wash cycle. Another useful feature is the folding rack or the adjustable rack, which give you more ways to position the dishes. Self-cleaning filters are a nice touch, but will push the price a bit.
THE REVIEW = The mid-priced Kenmore 13742 received very high scores from experts for excellent cleaning and low noise. But more expensive models offer more features.
The plastic tub lowers cost, and the sound insulation lowers the noise. It has a delay start feature and a quick-wash cycle. This model comes in 4 colors (the stainless steel costs about $100 more than the usual $670 price tag).
This dishwasher is Energy Star rated. It is designated as the Best Value Dishwasher by Consumer Search.
Other Top Performers Include:
Best Luxury Dishwasher = The Bosch SHX98M09UC @ about $1420.
Best Basic Dishwasher = Whirlpool DU1055XTVQ @ about $410.
Best Prices found in Nov. ’09 and again in Apr., '10 = For Kenmore you have to go to Sears.
