The Best Air Conditioners

HOW TO CHOOSE = The most important issue when finding the best air conditioners, is to properly size the unit for your space. Here’s a chart to guide you:
Up to 250 sq. ft. = min. of 5500 BTUs
250 to 350 sq. ft. = min. of 7000 BTUs
350 to 450 sq. ft. = min. of 9000 BTUs
450 to 550 sq. ft. = min. of 11,000 BTUs
550 to 700 sq. ft. = min. of 13,500 BTUs
Some larger units require a 220-volt plug. Make sure you can accommodate this at the location you intend to put the air conditioner. Check to see how easy it is to change and clean the filters. This might require additional space on one side of the unit.
Convenience features could include thermostats, digital controls, remote controls and built-in timers. If you’re a light sleeper, look for the best air conditioners that are quiet. Get the most energy efficient unit you can afford. It will cost a bit more now, but you’ll make up for it in electrical bill savings.
