Bedroom Makeovers
Bedroom makeovers are usually very easy, very inexpensive, and lots of fun. The reason is that all you're doing is moving some furniture around (maybe) and redecorating. The use of fabrics and colors is typically all that's needed.
Take this example, provided by Better Homes and Gardens. Depending on your taste, you could prefer either decore scheme. The point is to see the difference a few splashes of color can make.

Before: Beige walls, comfortable bedding, and a few accessories make this bedroom a neutral oasis. A matelasse coverlet and pillow shams paired with a quilted-look blanket and striped throw pillows made from outdoor fabrics add comfort but lack flair.

After: Beige walls provide the perfect backdrop for a collection of bold accessories.
Bedding: Orange and green accent pillows and an orange patterned duvet add a splash of color to the bedroom.
Wall Art: A bold piece of orange artwork -- an inexpensive artist's canvas painted a solid color -- creates a focal point to the space above the headboard.
Accents: Accents, such as the large-scale lamp with a playful patterned shade, feature multiple colors to bring the room's palette together seamlessly.

My daughter loves pink and would have the entire room pink if I would let her. As I don't have an endless budget, she has to be happy with pink accessories. But they are themed to her age and can be changed as she grows.
Bedrooms are like that, they are a haven, some like them frilly and fancy others clean slick and sterile. It all depends on your personality.
I have recently seen a bedroom that was full of teddy bears everywhere I looked, and no, it wasn't a child's room, it was a grown woman's, but her hobby was collecting teddy bears and she loved to have them around her when she slept. It was comforting for her.
There are many motives behind giving your bedrooms a different design some of which may be comfort, presentation, or an unusual look. There is a slight freshness that is added to the room when the paint colors are changed, furniture is repainted and the linen colors are different.
MASTER BEDROOM MAKEOVERS
There are a few main aspects of a bedroom which everyone keeps in mind while designing it, such as the wall colors, furniture, interiors and lastly the linens and the bedding. These make up the entire room and give you the most comfortable feeling possible.
The master bedroom should have an elegant and mature look to it. Let's consider one point at a time and discuss the details regarding them.
WALLS - When you are giving your master bedroom a makeover, keep in mind that you choose colors like beige, peach, whites, gray, light shades of yellow and green, cream, ivory, etc.
This is because the master bedroom makeovers have to look beautiful and classy and still have a cozy feeling to them. Therefore, select paint colors which will compliment your bedroom furniture, if you don't wish to change it's color.
FURNITURE AND ACCESSORIES - the furniture and accessories of bedrooms are the essence of the room. They brighten up the room, provide a theme, and makes it look the way you want it to look. Chandeliers, table lamps, corner potpourri vases, candle stands, CD racks, etc. are some of the few things you can think of having to decorate your master bedroom.
It is often said that bedrooms are a reflection of your own characters and thus when you design it, the "YOU" should be reflected. You can even add photo frames and family portraits, paintings and book shelves to give that intellectual look to your master bedroom.
LINENS - The bedsheets, covers, blankets, drapes and curtains are all included in this category of the bedroom décor. For your master bedroom you can have light colored bed décor with bold designs like flowers, dots or stripes which give a unique look to the bed and make it stand out in the room.
For the drapes and sheers, you can have dark and light contrast colors respectively. Lavender, green, blue, red, brown, yellow, pink, etc. are some of the choices you can have for the drapes. Beige, ivory, cream, AND light shades of other colors would be good for the sheers.

Small Bedroom Makeovers
The smaller bedrooms in the house are for your guests and other family members. If you want to get these redone, you need to follow the exact same steps as the bedroom makeovers for master bedrooms, just make a few simple changes.
GIRLS BEDROOM MAKEOVERS - For girls of any age, the best colors for the walls are pink, peach, lavender and light yellow. Their curtains and drapes can also be of similar colors that complement the bedding and have frills and bows.
Generally, teenage girls prefer to have their bedrooms neat and tidy with dolls and stuffed animals all around their bed. A dresser with lights wouldn't be such a bad idea for a teenage girl who is style conscious.
However, grown up girls would like to have a more mature bedroom look, with bookshelves, CD rack, and with a table or desk for their laptop or PC.
BOYS BEDROOM MAKEOVERS - Boys are messy and not so organized, and thus are not very concerned with the look of their bedroom. For paint colors, you can use blue, orange, green, maroon, etc.
Their linens can be bold and have large designs like stripes. The furnishings in a boys bedroom could include a bean bag, a play station, a TV, music player, a PC or a laptop and a bookshelf.
When more than one child share a room, bunk beds are a possibility. You will need closets and study tables made, and colors could work with bedding of their favorite characters.
THE GUEST BEDROOM - This bedroom should be more mature and elegant than a child's room. Keeping a similar theme to the master bedroom, you might just alter the color scheme. You can get artwork or family pictures to hang on the walls in order to add color. The accessories can also introduce colors.
So, when you start your bedroom makeover, think about what makes you feel good and start from there. It could be a soft chenille bedspread (if you're the lady of the house), or cushions, or posters of favorite singers. Think about how to make the bedroom look stylish so that it flows with the rest of your home and still keep some individuality for the occupant.
