Bathroom Design Ideas
While reviewing bathroom design ideas, you have to consider the following:
* The size and shape of the room;
* The size of your budget;
* The people who will be using the room (family and visitors);
* And the level of personal pampering you want to achieve.
With new innovations and materials becoming available every year, your new bathroom can be a great deal more than a sink, a toilet, and a bath. You should begin your bathroom design with the selection of "luxury" items such as whirlpool baths, dual showerheads or shower systems, towel warmers, radiant flooring, etc.
Lately, with bathroom design ideas, there's a growing trend toward using the bathroom as a retreat where you can relax and spend time alone. People install sound systems and TVs in their master baths. Once your wish list is complete, you can prioritize and decide which items will fit into the space.
If you're enlarging your bathroom, you'll have to determine where the additional space will be coming from - usually a bedroom, closet, or hallway. Since you're playing with the walls, you might consider getting an architect involved so you don't do anything that has a negative affect on the structure of the house.
Bathroom cabinets are a very important component since they will provide many of your storage, organizing, and space saving solutions.
Decorating issues, like material, colors (earth tones are very "in" right now), trim, etc. all have to be finalized (and ordered) before the work begins. Add interest by thinking outside the box - unusual angles, artwork, or accent lighting. I know of one master bath where there is a kitchen warming drawer built into the vanity to keep towels warm.
If there's an elderly or handicapped person intending to use this room, it's a good idea to make the various fixtures easily accessible for everyone. Fog free mirrors are a good idea (unless we're dealing with a powder room, where there isn't anything to create the fog).
Did you know that a giraffe can clean its ears with its 21 inch tongue?

Other items that should be included are: grab bars, toilets with seats 17" high, dual shower heads (1 overhead and 1 hand held), and curbless entry to reduce the risk of tripping.
Many people like the double sink vanity. It's not my favorite thing because I'm not convinced folks actually use both sinks at the same time. I'm just letting you know that you should think about how you will be using your sinks, when you're deciding between various bathroom design ideas. If you go with a single sink vanity, you'll have more room for those luxuries we all know you really want.
If you like instant gratification, you'll like the on-demand tankless hot water heaters. They deliver no-wait hot water, and they're considered a "green" product because you're not heating a storage tank full of water - only the water you use. They can either be gas or electric.
There are 4 ways to reduce water heating costs:
Lower the thermostat on the water heater to 120 degrees.
Insulate the water heater.
Buy a new, efficient model of water heater.
Use less hot water.
