Backyard Water Fountains

Generally speaking, backyard water fountains are less expensive than either waterfalls or ponds. So if you want a water feature in your backyard, but are a bit tight on money, this is a good way to go.

It has been determined that the sound of moving water is very relaxing – especially on a hot day. Fountains make a great addition to any yard. They can be big or small, so they can be made to easily fit into the rest of your backyard landscape.

Fountains can be large dramatic things with lots of jets shooting water in all directions. You could, in fact, create works of art with fountains. Or, they can be small enough to sit on a table, enhancing a balcony. Fountains can even hang from a wall in your garden.

They not only enhance your outdoor living experience, but they also provide a water source for some of your neighbors – birds and cute little 4 legged animals. Just make sure the water keeps flowing. We don’t want mosquitoes breeding in your backyard.

Fountains can be made from a variety of materials, including bronze, marble, clay, stone, ceramic tile, or any combination of these. If the fountain will remain outside permanently, bronze is the best material to avoid weather damage and extra maintenance.

Concrete and marble will crack in freezing temperatures and the patches will look unsightly.

Combine with some lighting for night-time drama. The only thing restricting your choice is your imagination.
