Home Alarm Companies

There are lots of home alarm companies out on the market. Many home security monitoring systems are affordable and many are effective, but it's hard to tell which security system is the best for your home.

When interviewing alarm companies, you should ask these questions:

How long have you been selling home security systems?

What monitoring companies do you work with?

What response time do you get from the police in my area?

Do you do the installations?

Do you guarantee your work?

How long of a contract do you require?

Do you have technicians on call if there's a problem with my system?

Of the best known alarm companies, ADT Security Systems is renowned for providing quality home security services to families using high-tech gadgetry that can keep a home safe from theft, fire and other dangers. They have been handling these systems since the 1920's.

Slomin's Security division is also nationwide and they provide an equally good system. In addition to their products, Slomin's Home Security System comes with free installation and includes a 1 Year Warranty, Telephone Seizure, Telephone Jack, Battery Backup and Pager Feature.

Another option is SimpliSafe Wireless Security. They offer 3 selling points:

Easy Install: Our security system is completely wireless and arrives pre-programmed, ready-to-install.

Easy Monitoring: With our built-in cellular alarm transmitter, you do not need a landline to get 24/7 alarm monitoring.

Easy Pricing: Systems start at just $199.99 and our no-contract alarm monitoring is $14.99 per month. We won’t tie you into a long-term service contract or charge any hidden fees.

Another of the many alarm companies with good reputations is Broadview Security. They will install state-of-the-art home security systems including burglar alarms, carbon monoxide detectors and smoke detectors. Their home security products are easy to use AND affordable, and feature a highly advanced, 24-hour home alarm monitoring service.

These companies all have their own websites, so check them out to help you make up your mind.

Tips and more information about alarm companies The current standard for monthly fees is about a dollar a day, which usually ends up being about $28 to $40 dollars a month. The more you get, the more you pay for. Complex systems cost more to setup but will protect you better.

Make sure you get several FREE estimates, from reliable companies in your area, WITH NO OBLIGATION TO HIRE. The contractor must be licensed and insured. Home-owners need to protect themselves against accidents that may occur on the job.

Find out about permits-some fire departments require a special license to have an alarm system.

Read the contract carefully. Look for hidden fees and pricing discrepancies from what you were quoted.

Consider an extended warranty or service agreement. Calling in a service crew post-warranty can get pretty pricey after parts and labor.

You may be able to get a discount on your home owner's insurance with a home security system installed. This could offset much of the expense.

Make sure you are actually buying your equipment - some companies lease it to you and take it back when your contract is up.

Ask about the companies policy regarding selling your contract-many consumers get ripped off when their contract is sold to a larger company with higher rates.

If the person that comes to meet you seems to be working straight out of his car (doesn't have an office) then steer clear! Setting up your system to call 911 automatically is illegal. You need the system to be hooked up to a central monitoring facility.
