Are you satisfied with your current above ground pool stairs?
If you aren't happy with the steps that came with your pool, why not step it up a bit? (Sorry, hard to resist that one).

You don't want your swimmers slipping. A good polyethylene step with good grip surface and a sturdy handrail will ensure that doesn't happen.

It's a simple installation that requires no special tools and can be completed in under 30 minutes. You'll impress everyone.
Above ground swimming pools have become extremely popular for backyard fun. The family can spend quality time together while relaxing and cooling off in familiar surroundings.
Some above ground pool owners build a wooden deck all around their pool, or partially around it, while others choose the freestanding look. In either case, stairs are necessary.
Deck Ladders
Made from stainless steel, other metal combinations, or plastic, deck ladders come in a wide variety of styles. The way they work is by allowing the bather to climb down into the pool from a deck that is around the pool.
The deck ladder has from three to five steps and two handrails that arc several feet above the deck and attach to the deck. These handrails turn into the side rails of the structure jutting down into the water that holds the steps in place.
Stairs
For those swimmers who feel more comfortable and secure on stairs as opposed to the steps of a ladder, there are staircases. Having handrails similar to the deck ladder, these lead the bather to a series of stairs going from the deck height down into the pool.
The major difference in the stairs as opposed to the ladder is that the handrails continue to the bottom step of the stairs. This feature offers security and safety for older adults who might be unsteady. People with injuries can also gain easy entry to the pool this way.

Wedding Cake Steps
A set of tiered steps that resemble the layers of a wedding cake provide access to the pool from a deck. A metallic handrail gives the bather something to hold onto as he descends into the pool.
The wedding cake steps start out with their smallest tier at water level. The rest of the tiers get progressively larger and end in a semi-circular platform just above the pool floor depth.
A-Frame Ladder
For those individuals without a deck, the A-Frame ladder is what your pool will need. The bather begins climbing up the ladder from ground level, usually five or six steps that lead to a platform. The platform straddles the pool wall.
Once up there, the bather turns around and begins climbing down the other portion of the A-Frame ladder into the water. These ladders are made of polyethylene or other durable plastic material designed to bear up to as much as a 300-lb.load.
Pool Entry System
This is a double staircase entry system for those above ground pools without a deck. The bather begins at ground level, climbs up a staircase with handrails to a platform, also with handrails, and then finally back down into the pool via another staircase. This is the largest of all the entry structures, but by far, it is the safest form of entry.

Features
Most of the stairs and steps provide slip resistant surfaces with grooves that allow water to run off instead of pooling, which is a welcomed safety feature.
A-Frame Ladders provide swing up sections that lift the bottom three or four steps up from ground level to an unreachable, locked position to dissuade small children from gaining unsupervised entry into the pool. The pool entry system provides a door that blocks and locks the stairs portion of the ascending staircase going into the pool
